About

Heatons Cats

Heatons Cats was formed in 1998 (previously known as THARG) and continues to thrive thanks to the generosity of the public and the dedication and hard work of our volunteers. It is our mission to protect and improve the lives of abused, abandoned and neglected cats.

We take in stray and unwanted cats (providing we have room!), have them vet-checked and treated before we find them suitable forever homes.

Cat rescue

At our shelter, rescuing cats is at the heart of everything we do. Many come from dangerous or unhealthy environments, and we’re committed to giving them a safe haven. When we have space to take them in, we offer cats a another chance at finding their forever home.

Cat adoption

We believe every cat deserves a loving forever home. Through our adoption program, we match each cat’s unique personality and needs with the right family. We take time to get to know our cats and potential adopters to ensure lifelong companionship. From playful kittens to senior lap cats, we help them find the homes where they’ll be loved and cherished.

Spaying and Neutering

Controlling the stray cat population starts with responsible spaying and neutering. Our shelter ensures all adopted cats are neutered, preventing countless unwanted litters. This vital work reduces overpopulation, improves cat health, and lessens the strain on local shelters.

Rehabilitation and medical care

All of cats are examined by our vets and treated before we make them available for adoption. We will discuss any medical issues with you prior to adoption.
